A few things to note here. The rail is still jointed, and the ballast hasn’t been covered with crushed black slag yet. Those two changes would come soon after this photo was taken. If I recall the welded rail and slag programs on the Galt Sub stated in earnest in summer of 1979.
The JCT just the way I remembered it.
With those OCS boarding cars, a Burro crane, and some switch ties changed out, it looks like the 1979 work program is already underway.
The jointed track shows CP’s standard (at the time) of all joint bolts with nuts to the field side.
