  1. Number 2 and counting. Bruce

  2. At least 50 more on the way Bruce. Another great shot John. Houses along the highway are still there today. Also note the CN Oshawa Sub right of way off to the right.

  3. Great shot John

  4. The string of box cars seems to go on for ever, and, oh wait, this is CP, all the units are long hood forward. Classic indeed. :-)

  5. Thanks for your comments, much appreciated

  6. Great stuff, to think those units were fairly new at the time. Curious, what’s the CNR Oshawa sub?

  7. The Kingston Sub used to be made of of 3 subdivisions:

    Cornwall Sub: Montreal – Brockville
    Gananoque Sub: Brockville – Belleville
    Oshawa Sub: Toronto – Belleville

Similarly the CP Belleville sub only ran Smith Falls – Trenton. West of Trenton to Agincourt it was the Oshawa Sub.

  8. Brundle, actually the CP had fewer long hood forward engines than CN. On CP, RS-18s, GP9s & GP7s of this same era were built to operate short hood forward, whereas all of those models on CN were all built to operate long hood forward. On CP, only RS-3s & RS-10s were built with long hood forward as the front.
