A pair of CP Rail GP9u locomotives lead their train east across Sixteen Mile Creek in Oakville.
Presumably exercising trackage rights on CN's Oakville Sub between Hamilton Jct and Toronto (Canpa).
I read that this arrangement began in 1896 continuing for 99 years - after that things changed.
A relic of CP's maroon and grey era is the swoosh over 8242's front-most radiator intake, for the yellow stripe.

  1. Nice catch John. I didn’t think they went past the Ford plant in Oakville. They would come through Port Credit with a big cut of autoracks.

  2. The rights ended around 2010….

    CP trains ran From Hamilton Junction to the Canpa so this could have very well been a mainline freight not a local. Locals did run past the ford plant all the way to Burlington West also.
