Caption: A mystery slide in my collection, not sure who gave me this image. The LRC JV1 is at the TH&B Hunter Street station in Hamilton, either testing to Welland or going to Dofasco for storage. It must have been quite a newsworthy event as it appears there was a news crew, perhaps CHCH TV recording the train. Also TH&B 51 seen in the image, I surmise an eastward drag from Aberdeen to Kinnear or perhaps for the belt line.
This image was most likely taken in 1974, the date on the slide mount is very faded and not able to read the dates. Any thoughts or info greatly appreciated.

Very neat find! Possibly taken February 5th 1975, I’ve seen a photo or two around of the JV1 moving through Hamilton streets and in the industrial area on that date (being moved around by a TH&B switcher too). Possibly Reg Button shots, or another local railfan out at the time.
I thought “Reggie” as well.He definitely would not have missed this. This Demo unit ran thru Bayview replacing tempo engines at times. I remember seeing it in 1975.
Thanks for the input. I sent these images out to a few fellows that may have given them to me and sort of drew a blank. Couple guys were very thorough in labeling their slides, not them. Another fellow thought it might be his but also suggested Reg Button slide. I did know Reg but I don’t recall exchanging any slides with Reg, although it might have been an exchange of slides with somebody else that was eventually given to me. Then again, somebody thought I was there that day taking pictures. Don’t think so as I was out west in BC working for BC Rail. To add confusion I have a couple of plastic mounted slides (duplicates??) of the the JV1 at Bayview Jct heading up the Dundas sub. Somewhere along the way, somebody thought of me account my previous employment with the TH&B and the general interest in seeing the LRC. BTW, what did JV1 stand for (joint venture ??)?
Doug Wingfield, maybe? Most of the others from that era have gone on to Greener Pastures. Reggie shot that LRC at Bayview. It is at the end of the Morning Sun book featuring Reg edited by Stephan Koenig.
Doug, I wonder if it was Brian when he lived in Hespeler. He and I did a few photo shoots around Ontario in the early 70′s like that!
Hi Doug, I have one of my dad’s slides of LRC JV1 at Bayview in May 1975. I can share with via Facebook messenger a picture of the slide mount so you can compare handwriting, that’s if there is anything written on your copy.
