Caption: A maze of pipelines confuse the viewer at the CSXT's Clifford St. Depot in Sarnia. Most of the clutter seen here is from the Imperial Oil plant - which grew around the Railway, literally. This facility is just one of a few reasons why CSXT continues to operate what I dub "the Class 1 Shortline".
Railway details in this scene - 2757 is parked on the "old main" and was involved in a Sideswipe a few weeks ago. Some damage is on the rear of the unit (not shown). 2574, paired with remote 2561 is parked behind the permanently installed "CROR 26.1" Blue Signal protection, which is in effect when the gyrolight is activated. This signal is used when the Mechanic is on duty, usually overnight. The yellow tripod-structure is used to hold two FRED's for jobs that venture out of town - but with the line recently changed (October 4 2013) to Rule 105, these may no longer be required.
The other three units in the background are parked at the "three stall" "roundhouse" - 2672, 2570, 2690 (not shown). The structure was built by the Erie and Huron as a six or so stall roundhouse between 1900 and 1910 and reduced in size sometime thereafter. Today, only a single stall can be used of the three doors and the building is clad, on two sides, in aluminum siding.
