A lot of the Sou Ontario railfans are familiar with Garnet. Within sight of the Nanticoke facility, there always seems to be power at the south end of the yard up until mid-day. And the variety over the years has been most interesting. Whenever I am traveling along Hwy 3, I look over to see if there is anything warranting a visit. This is a nice set. The photo is from 1998 and all four locomotives were acquired by Railink that year. X-CN 3585 (HR412), 3502, 3508 (both M-420s, x-CN) and former CP 5005 (GP35) make up the consist. And the sunshine completes it. Nice !!

  1. You have a triple going on here, that in my opinion, make for the finest looking locomotives. The comfort cab, the red paint and lastly, perfect sun angle. All 3 together produce awesome pictures like this. Nicely done Arnold.
I could add that Zebra stripes don’t hurt either. :-)

  2. Thanks for the kind words. Personally I liked the black with white CN noodle the best. The early ones. The more recent paint, as on the SD75Is, is terrible. Anything to save a buck, I guess.

  3. Excellent throw back Arnold! My how times have changed. This scene looks so different now topographically and motive power wise.

The CN paint is even supposed to be making a return next year when the lease expires!
