A late morning departure from North Bay allowed for some decent light on train 450 as it passed through South River. The old station, built in 1884 by the Northern and Pacific Junction Railway, and derelict coaling tower stand guard as a testament to the town's railway history.

  1. You seldom see South River photographed from this angle. Love this shot!

  2. Great shot Craig. The station looks a lot better than the last time I saw it.

  3. Deeeeeee-lightful !!!!

  4. Hi Craig, so nice to see a picture of action on the north end of CN’s Newmarket Sub. ! Great shot of the old South River station and hope it will be around for a long time. Hard to believe the old coaling tower is still standing 60 years after steam ended . Interesting that the siding appears to still be in place. Nice composition !
    Many thanks, John

  5. Thanks, Ryan, Jason, Arnold and John! I appreciate the comments :)

  6. The station looks a to better here then when I last saw it several years ago.

  7. When I stopped there in September I had a look in the bay window and there is a female mannequin lying on the floor. Gotta wonder what went on in that place. :o )
