A highly chased 246 heads southbound towards Hamilton as it dodges clouds. The head end 12 cars were a Hamilton set off - with the loaded coil for Aberdeen, the loaded bulkhead for interchange with CN to be taken to Empire Steel on the Grimsby, and the 10 new CP grain hoppers for Richardson in the Eastport area. The other grain hoppers were a Welland set off for interchange with Trillium to be taken to Port Colborne.

  1. Those new hoppers must be coming out of the builders hot and heavy. Several trains lately are entirely of these grey/white coloured cars. I guess that will mean the end of the gov’t. hoppers, with nearly 40 years of service, it’s time to go.

  2. Between CN, CP, Louis-Dreyfus, G3 and GrainsConnect there are thousands of these style out there now. Not quite as charming eh

  3. Nope, their only charm is being new. Which will quickly disappear once the spray bomb patrol gets at them. :-)
