Caption: A gloomy day north of Superior always seems to be "extra" gloomy. As in the time I stopped at Marathon to grab a photo of the CP station, not knowing at the time if they still had one. So it was another one of those ugly flat roof styles, relatively modern, early 1950s, I think. There were quite a few of them up that way. They look good and solid, suggesting a long life-span; but this one, like many others of its type along the Superior route are now long gone. One would think they could have been repurposed, but I guess not.

In October 1985 I boarded the eastbound Canadian there. It was a few hours late as I recall so my friend dropped me off at the station around 11pm I think. It was deserted and quiet. I expected the doors to be locked, but the waiting room was open, very clean inside and had a pair of beautiful old wooden benches where I waited until the train finally showed up.
@Dave: I found the same thing at Cartier. It was only a few years ago they finally gave up on ‘trust’ in most northern places. Shame.
