Caption: A gas train had just departed Leader, SK and is about half way to the hamlet of Mendham when we caught up with it. The train is on the way to Burstall, another 23 miles down the line where it will work an energy facility there. Track speed is 10 MPH. Power consists of FURX 5519 (with Great Sandhills decal on side) HLCX 1031 and a former NS 5543; a unit which I saw on Wheatland Rwy a couple of years previous.
The location I shot this at I believe is Township Rd 220, and we are about 2 miles out of Leader, the hub for the GSR.
I was under the impression short lines did not work weekends, yet here it is a Sunday and there were trains operating on both ends of the roughly 130 mile line. Busy times !!

Great photo and composition.
Sweet prairie scene. Nicely framed.
