A freight works the west leg of the wye in Burlington in early 1969. Note the dimensional load cars and the crewman "on the ground", as well as the interesting GP-9 4149/CPB-16-5 lashup!

  1. This would be Dec 20, 1968, train 552 which was the daylight Oakville Sub run.

  2. Interesting to see one of those Geeps with Flexicoil trucks.

  3. Some of those 4140-4150′s like 4149 had two winterization hatches applied by CN, one over each 48″ fan. I think they did time in Winnipeg, and it might have been a cold operating environment modification or test (in the early 1960′s perhaps(?)).

There was also a duct that ran from the hatch closest to the cab down the right side of the long hood (other side of the unit, since LHF) to the walkway too, but it may not have lasted as long. Photos show it may have been replaced with a simpler duct flowing right into the top of the hood.
