Caption: A 7 coach Turbo Train is exiting Toronto Union Station on the way to the Spadina Avenue roundhouse on a gloomy overcast fall 1976 afternoon. It is almost nose-to-nose with the painted mural at the base of the CN Tower featured in one of my earlier submissions. Note the nose of the locomotive still sports the red CN logo applied during the transition from CN passenger service to the then new VIA Rail service.
39 years later, a sparsely populated lake front is no longer the case. The parking lot is also gone, giving way to construction of L'Hotel, the Metro Toronto Convention Center, and a new CN Regional Headquarters office building in the next decade. Once again my 76' Road Runner has snuck into the bottom of the frame.
My thanks to Dan Dell'Unto for having the patience, and for taking the time to correct this photo enough to make it acceptable to put on RP.ca
