The changing eastward view from Bathurst Street: One of four images showing the changes through years: 1979, 1980\'s and 2011. Note the nearly empty Spadina coach yard (due to Sunday peak travel period) and the four main depot approach tracks curving around the never used (to my knowledge) control tower. This \'trailing shot\' image shows Train #4 (or perhaps one of the last train #2?) on Father\'s Day June 17, 1979, powered by CP Rail 8529 – 8473 (credit to Bill Millar); a GP9 – RS10 pulling an ex CN consist. The train is the \'Super Continental\' consist operating in the Via \'Canadian\' time slot. (anyone with further knowledge?). June 17 is the date of the new Via schedule that moved the Via \'Canadian\' (trains #1 and #2) to a Montreal only origination and the Via \'Super Continental\' (trains #3 and #4) to a Toronto only origination. The final westbound Via Canadian equipped with the ex CP Budd equipment departed Union June 16, 1979 – per Paul Cordingley. The time of this negative exposure is approximately 8:30 p.m., the available light was very poor and add to that this is Kodak TriX 400 ASA pan film – hence please excuse the low contrast and somewhat grainy exposure (the later the train is the longer you wait!). It would be some six plus years  before Toronto would be the terminal for the ex CPR Budd (\'The Canadian\') equipment again. Special thanks for viewers input on the approach photo (and circumstances surrounding this image): Bill Millar, Paul Cordingley). Kodak Tri X Pan b&w negative film. Photographer S. Danko
