Dressed in CitiRail paint scheme, two former CREX locomotives now numbered CN 3916 and CN 3977 are getting up some speed as they enter the south track of the Halton Sub. at Burlington West.

With all the glass intact #615 is still looking in good shape as it sits parked on the site of the former Martech Facility on Rusholme Road, Welland. I wonder what the future holds for this centre cab. TRRY (GIO) 108 sat idle today parked just inside the gate.

After a hard steady climb the tail end of CP Extra 5826 East has made its way through the Spiral Tunnels and is cresting the Big Hill. Shortly after departure from Field I was able to photograph CP 5826 exiting a tunnel near Cathedral (West).

Driving the Trans-Canada highway I was able to follow and photograph this train as it entered and exited the Spiral Tunnels and other locations on the hill.

The bridge abutment on the left in the photo formed part of the original CPR right of way.

My photo is taken at almost the same spot as one Steve Young posted from 1989.

After exiting the Lower Spiral Tunnel and with the top half of the vestibule door open I am enjoying the mountain view, the smell of mountain air and occasional diesel exhaust as VIA #1 "The Canadian" has a Clear Signal at Cathedral (East) descending the 2.4% grade on The Big Hill toward Field BC.

With only a few cars trailing today QGRY 2301 and RLK 4095 are heading west at Mile 2.1 on the Stelco Spur about to cross Haldimand Road 3 preparing to stop at the gate to Stelco - Lake Erie Works.

CN 5286 and an unknown unit (maybe an IC) along with a new GO Transit unit in tow lead an eastbound up the south track of the Halton Sub. at Mile 48.9 about to pass under Plains Road. CAPBRICK was a busy spot then and the place to go for stone products, today the property sits empty but the sign remains. Sightline concerns for the new westward signals at Burlington West will be addressed starting with the removal of trees on the north side.

CN 3231 and CN 3316 are in the lead with CN 2122 and CN 2452 dead-in-tow as 397 passes one of the non-prescribed burns which occurred on the Halton Sub. yesterday. I presume the DIT units are heading state side for final disposition.

The SOR Garnet Yard day job with QGCY 2301 and RLK 4095 are trailing a block of coil cars for Stelco and a block of tanks for Imperial Oil has slowly made its way south from Garnet Yard and is stopped at Mile 0.00 Hagersville Sub. at Nanticoke the junction with the Stelco Spur and Hydro Spur. The crew is waiting the arrival of GEXR 2303 (Imperial Oil Job) which is behind the photographer running light northbound on the Hydro Spur. The crew has lined the switch for the Stelco Spur, after a job briefing between crews QCRY 2301 and RLK 4095 will head south with the block of coil cars on the Stelco Spur, having cut-off the block of tanks to be lifted by GEXR 2303.

GEXR 2303 (Texaco Job) is sitting south of the junction switch with the Stelco Spur. The Garnet Yard Job with QGRY 2301 and RLK 4095 trailing blocks of coil cars and tanks is stopped north of the junction switch, after a job briefing they will pull south onto the Stelco Spur, cut off the tail end block of tanks just north of the switch and then continue south to Stelco. GEXR 2303 will couple onto the tanks and after getting their air will head south on the Hydro Spur to switch Texaco.

CN 7515 and CN 7509 lead L551 up the grade on the south track of the Halton Sub. between Tansley and Ash. The planned meet with 435 at Ash didn't quite go as planned as 435 was delayed for about an hour, most likely snagged by the detector at Mile 36.
