Stewart Southern's two leased CRLX units look mighty fine together as they haul a train of interchange cars from CP toward Richardson for the evening. This is a fairly routine Friday afternoon movement, which the train departing Richardson SK on Monday morning.

Working the 0400 Chetwynd roadswitcher normally meant a serious lack of sleep on my part, however there were some great photo opportunities that came along with the long days. Here, Dawson Creek bound train 579 with its three 2400s awaits a crew as the rising sun breaks through the low clouds at the north end of Chetwynd yard.

Keewatin Railway's signature mixed train is seen northbound at Root Lake Manitoba with GP40-2W HBRY 3005 and M-420W KRC 2401 up front. Behind the power are a pair of flat cars bracketed by a set of HBRY 40 foot box cars followed by the passenger portion of the train. I can't remember what led me up to this portion of the country in late November but I would certainly like to do it again in the summer.

SD40-2F CMQ 9010 and Jordan Spreader CP 402998 are in the process of cutting away some soil and ballast on the north side of the main between Morse and Herbert SK on the Swift Current Sub. Perhaps prepping for winter and the subsequent spring runoff? I wont pretend to know.

In a scene that was often repeated multiple times per day, a pair of Woodstock regulars (CP 1618 and 1505) cross the CN Dundas Sub at Carew.

The CN bridge over Maskuta Creek just west of Hinton Alberta is always worth a shot when in the area. Check out the water colour difference between the Athabasca river in the background and the creek beneath the bridge.

Here is one that is comforting to look at on a cold winter day. Condie is the south end of Mobil Grain's Last Mountain Railway and pumps out the loads a fairly steady rate. On this warm Summer afternoon a clean, almost graffiti-free grain car compliments the scene nicely, as dose MGLX 5491 as it awaits its next trip north.

CN#396 with the 5403 and 5265 is seen grinding upgrade through the most scenic portion of the Halton Sub just north of Milton. This was certainly a nice spot to watch the afternoon parade of eastbounds headed for Mac Yard.

Seeing Bill Hooper's recent post of a train on CP's Expanse Sub reminded my of this spring time chase I made down the line. This line has no shortage of scenery and is very remote. In this scene CP 2308 and a hidden 3071 lead a good sized train of interchange cars for GWRS in Assiniboia.

A rare move at the south end of the Last Mountain Railway has a cut of fifty grain empties being shoved beneath the Regina Bypass highway. The city's skyline is visible at the upper right.
