About Kevin Flood
I am from Kitchener, ON and have been photographing trains since 2000. I started with a Blacks point and shoot film camera then switched to digital in 2004/2005. I got my first DSLR in July 2007, and five years later, upgraded my camera to what I'm using currently - a Canon 60D.

![GEXR 3835 leads this evening's wayfreight up to Elmira. Here we see it at the north end of Waterloo Park approaching Seagram Drive, past the parking. I often parked here when I studied at UW to avoid paying for parking. And I was a park patron! I was enjoying the view of this beautiful late spring evening!](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/GEXR_3835a_WaterlooON_61307-200x150.jpg)

![Ah, summer (well, technically very late spring)! The GEXR wayfreight to Elmira trundles northward on the Waterloo Spur just after 19:00 on a hot, sunny evening. They are crossing University Ave. at the University of Waterloo.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/LLPX_2210_WaterlooON_61807-200x150.jpg)

![CP 550 with UP 3649, CP 8563, CP 6232, CP 9544, CP 8714, CP 5648, UP 4863 and UP 3984 finally came through at Orrs Lake. We were not picking up anything on the radio that they stopped at Wolverton to pick up some locomotives. Before CP 550 made it here, we were expecting just the UP 3649 and CP 8563. I apologize I should have sent an OS here but we chased the thing to Guelph Jct. So, I was heavy in chase mode; however, luckily there was an OS sent from Ayr that he was on the move again. Nonetheless, it was a killer catch and cool that we had no idea of the extra power until it got to us. Note the yellow tape at the back of the CP 9544. Does anyone know where the extra power came from? (what train?) Time, 12:00.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/UP3649c-OrrsLake-20150131-Copy-200x150.jpg)

!["Get a taste of the Dark". Huh. Did I buy into Tim Horton's marketing once again? Yes. Was it worth it? No! But interestingly, it adds flare to the shot, and the CN 7000 switcher on this day's CN 580 is "dark." Got to love how these CN GP9s in this paint scheme are still around into 2015. This day was the last day of 2014 and no snow on the ground; not too happy about that I'll be honest, especially being that I just returned to Canada from a city in China at the same latitude as Atlanta which doesn't really see snow.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CN7000f-Brantford-2014-12-31-200x150.jpg)

![Interestingly, CN power leads this day's CP 147 in the form of two EMD products: CN 5682 and CN 5562. This is the first time I shot CN power on the CP Galt Sub, let alone the only power on the train! Thanks Curtis and Steve for the heads up on the FPON group. The time was about 16:00 and the train probably didn't depart until close to dark, as it appeared that they had a lot of work to do there.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CN5682a-Wolverton-2015-01-18-200x150.jpg)

![In 2003, several CN trains detoured over the GEXR Guelph Sub due to a derailment on the Dundas Sub. Five years later, it happened again. Maybe, there were times in between. But this time, I had my camera ready to catch some of the action. The date was Monday, February 18, 2008 and it was the first Family Day Monday (the first year the new holiday in Ontario and Alberta came into effect). Here we see CN 396 coasting through Kitchener at about 20-30 km/h with a good train. The power was CN 5652 and IC 1024. There was another train after this one with CN/IC-BNSF power. It's cool to see these massive trains going through Kitchener.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CN_5652c_KitchenerON_21808-200x150.jpg)

![CP 3057 and CP 3038 in the old "dual flag" paint scheme head towards Cambridge as light power in the summer of 2008. They are about to duck under the Wilson Avenue overpass and are paralleling the busy Fairway Road in the south part of Kitchener. Note how faded the paint is on these locomotives - the red has become pink! Contrast this with the vibrant red paint on the new CP GP20C-ECOs that are currently dominating this level of power.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/CP_3057b_KitchenerON_70508-200x150.jpg)

![On a trip to Goderich in May 2008, we came across numerous GEXR locomotives resting in the yard. Here we see HLCX 6522 (an SD45 I think) posing beside a familiar locomotive - the RailLink F unit, RLK 1401, which is now part of the OSR fleet. Also note the piece of equipment between the two locomotives. I leave this open for discussion.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/HLCX6522_RLK1401_GoderichON_51008-200x150.jpg)
