I’m a Railway Photographer born and raised in Brockville ON, I photograph the Canadian Class 1’s in Eastern Ontario and beyond. I currently photograph with the Canon 5D Mark IV, and the lenses I use are the 24-70 F2.8, 16-35 F2.8, 70-200 F2.8, and 100-400 F5.6.

CN L538 goes across the bridge crossing over the Saint Charles River, as they head to Cecile Jct, where they’ll pick up cars dropped off by the Beauharnois CSX local, before heading northward back to Coteau.

CN L538’s first assignment of the day on the Valleyfield is to drop off 50 empty Acid Tankers at the side track (Track V041), before they go down the CIL Spur where they’ll work National Silicates, and Goodyear. Here they are seen pulling past the switch, where soon the conductor will unhook the 50th Acid tanker, then she’ll line the switch to track V041, where 538 will back up into that track, then drop off the tanks, before they continue to the CIL Spur.

Just as CP 143 came into Smiths Falls, Train Master told the inbound crew they’d be dropping off the two KCS units, for a CWR train which we all found very unusual, since the KCS’s don’t have hot plates or fridges, therefore they cannot lead in Canada. But after further listening to inbounds and TM’s discussion, they’d have an SD40-2 leading it westward, with the KCS’s in trail. Here the KCS’s are seen in the shop track on the North side of the yard, awaiting their next assignment.

After CN L532 is done working the Ingredion interchange in Cardinal, the crew continues to head westward to service one last customer in Johnstown, before heading westward again towards the Brockville yard.

CN L518 heads back towards Belleville with the GTW GP38-2 leading this time. After a long and hard days work, they’re finally headed back but only doing 25 mph, since they have problems with the SBU.

After CN L518 is done it’s work at Kimco Steel, they head towards the Cataraqui Spur interchange switch, where they’ll back up towards Invista and do they’re 2 hour yard shunt.

CN L518 backs up towards Invista, as they cross a little wooden trestle going across the Little Cataraqui Creek, in Kingston ON. Up front is GMTX 2254, & a surprise visitor (GTW 6224). Apparently the heater on the GTW wasn’t working, so the whole time the GMTX had to lead per crew preference, so when the GMTX came in leading eastward, heading westward they wyed the train at the Kimco Wye at Queens.

CP T08 crawls up the curved grade past station sign Myrtle, as they are slowly making their way east towards Havelock on the very scenic Havelock Sub. This train has a unique GP38-2 in the lead, which is not so common for the Havelock runs to have considering it’s often ECO’s leading for the most part.

CP T08 crawls past a playground at Burketon Station, with CP 3063 leading a couple GP20C-ECO’s, and some cars destined for Havelock yard. Pretty soon, this train will stop in Pontypool, so the crew can get a coffee at the Country Style before proceeding East on their slow journey to Havelock.

CN M369 rounds the curve at mileage 198, by the Napanee station in its original Grand Trunk Railroad structure. Leading 369 is 3023, which is painted in tribute to the former Elgin Joliet & Eastern Railroad, which CN now owns all the rights to. 369 is about 20ish miles to Belleville, where the Montreal crew will do a crew change, and give the rest of the run to a new crew taking the train to Toronto’s Mac Yard.

CN M305 rounds the curve at MP 169 of CN’s Kingston Sub, with my buddy Engineer Rob at the controls, and two other conductors including a trainee from Toronto, on board this mixed freight originating from Moncton.

As I got word that there was a CWR headed eastward from Smiths Falls to Montreal on the Winchester, I was kind of hoping it would come sooner in Green Valley ON, but I had to drive a little further west since I was losing light. Luckily I got this train at just the right lighting, and the right angle at Avonmore.

This CP CWR train passes through the country side of Avonmore ON, with a pair of SD’s hauling loads of Continuous Welded Rail bound for the former CMQ I do believe. Weeks later, this train would drop off Rail on the Belleville Sub, with the SD60M taking the lead.

CN X369 takes down a set of old CNR searchlight’s as they’re lighting the right of way for the Kingston Sub. In the consist, are a pair of uncommon C44-9WL’s hauling mixed freight bound for Toronto on a chilly Friday evening.

After CN X319 had to wait for some EB VIA’s to do their station stop at Port Hope, the windmill blade train carries along the Kingston Sub almost nearing Toronto, as it passes in Newtonville Rd overpass, located in Clarington.

Cardinal’s Ingredion switcher comes up the Spur with two corn product tankers, about to be set off in the little yard just off of Highway #2. Back when CASCO owned the industry, they used to have a GMD1 switching the facility but it has since been abandoned at the bottom of the industry, and has been replaced by leaser MP15DC FURX 1552, which is former UPY 1298, nee SP 2700.

CN G802 passes the Brockville station platform with two BNSF pumpkins hauling 91 cars of loaded soybeans for Montreal. Originally when it was coming into Sarnia, it had an IC Dash 9 leading, but it got taken off there to let the BNSF’s lead.

CN M305 passes through Brockville with quite an amazing lashup. In the mix is BCOL 4650, CN 2693, GECX 2038, & UP 6497, all headed for Mac Yard.

CN M305 passes through the town of Brockville, with the Grand Trunk Western Heritage Unit taking the lead. This is one of the 6 units CN has in the heritage paint representing the heritage of the old Railroads CN has purchased over the years.

CN M376 with the paint honouring war veterans passes CN L532 as they depart the north yard after dropping ingots for Anderson Transportation Services. The Ingots will be shipped on ATS trucks to Oswego NY, where they’ll be flattened into metal sheets, then taken back to Quebec or elsewhere by train.

A late CN Z149 passes through Brockville yard, with BCOL 4620 on the point, and two CN SD75i’s trailing as they haul stacks towards Chicago.
