About crr200
I live in the Cleveland Ohio area and have taken train pictures with a 35mm slide or digital camera since 1964. I've traveled around the United States and parts of Canada both professionally and for fun, most always with a camera and an eye toward the railroad tracks.

![BC Rail daily passenger train passing a small lake just south of Whistler, BC in June 1993 with 6 RDC's. This was one of the best rides in North America with premium Caribou service that included better seating and meals at your seat. In early 1993 when I rode it, a round trip Caribou service ticket from North Vancouver to Lillooet was $97 compared to the regular fare of $52. If both sides were on time, there was about a 3 hour layover in Lillooet.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/1993June_BCR_RDC_SB_Whislter-200x150.jpg)

![A followup to this posting of the same train at Bayview. http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=20447
I have the slide labeled as 'North of Toronto". Pretty sure it is before the train would have entered Mac yard. Maybe someone will recognize a landmark and fill in the details. The 3 reefers that were first out behind the power at Bayview had been set off before getting to this point. ![On our first group trips to Toronto in the late 70's we learned the good places to shoot from a couple of the best, Cleveland residents Al Clum and Dave McKay. One of their favorite spots is shown here at Scarborough Golf Course Rd on the east side of Toronto. This was mostly a passenger train route but occasionally there would be a freight, usually with auto parts taking a shortcut through downtown.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/19780528_CN5065_Toronto-200x150.jpg)

![An eastbound freight with 3 big Alcos from MLW coming through Bayview Jct on June 28, 1986 with brake shoes still smoking after descending the escarpment. We thought the setup was kind of odd with the 3 cars in front of the dead-it-tow switcher. The next time we saw the train on the north side of Toronto (one cloudy shot wasn't going to be enough for this one), the box cars had been set off.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/1986-628_CN2314_EB_Bayview-200x150.jpg)

Toronto's skyline, including CP's Royal York hotel make an impressive background. ![CP #9016 sits waiting for a turn to unload at the Roberts Bank terminal in July 1993. I had ridden behind the Royal Hudson to Squamish on what had been a very wet afternoon through those clouds in the background of this scene. But when the sun popped out driving back toward the States, I decided that the only chance to find anything in that area to take advantage of the clearing skies would be if there was a coal train staged at the port waiting to unload. I was rewarded with this CP SD40-2F red barn sitting perfectly in the evening sunshine.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/1993July_CP9016_RobertsBank-200x150.jpg)

![The daily southbound mixed freight crossing the Nikomekl River in the small town of Crescent Beach, BC in August 1993. There was typically only one daily freight in and out of Canada at that time. On one of my business trips to NW Washington, I happened to be redirected to the Vancouver airport instead of Seattle and saw this trestle and the one just to the north over the Serpentine River out the window. I made a mental note to check them out if there was ever an opportunity to be there when there would be a train. I got that chance on a later trip. I remember being worried about how slow the train was going and the rising tide, but was willing to get a little wet.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/1993Aug_BN8148_SB_CrescentBeach-200x150.jpg)

![In the early days of VIA, the power was not painted as fast at the coaches. At least that was my impression as a couple of times a year visitor. Here's an example with 2 rebuilt RS18's pulling a Tempo train (probably from Windsor) through Bathurst St on September 4, 1978. Even with not visiting Toronto for several years, I know how much this has changed.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/19780904_CN3153_Toronto-200x150.jpg)

![Believe it or not, this is the steel train for June 28, 1986. We traveled to Hamilton expecting to shoot the street running on Ferguson Ave, but instead they backed out of the yard and went up thru Dundas. Maybe because of the extra loads they had (trailers). If you look close you will find the mid train caboose typical of the operation for running around the train. We were disappointed to not get the normal street operation, but even in 1986, where do you shoot an A-B-A lashup (too bad we got the geep).](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/19860628_CN9165_BayviewA-200x150.jpg)
