At the time of posting this, the infamous season of Winter is just around the corner, scenes like this will be possible again! On a bright and sunny February day, CN Macmillan Yard - Aldershot Yard turn L570 charges through Georgetown with a pleasant BC Rail (or, BCOL) GE C40-8M in the lead, this unit was built for the British Columbia Railway in 1993 out of General Electric's Erie, PA locomotive plant. One could wish for the unit to have a cleaner nose, but you take what ya get! This unit is still active on CN's roster.

I have always adored the vintage unique signal cantilever structures the CP had, fortunately the North Toronto Subdivision still has a handful across the 6 Mile long line. These signals at Howland likely date back to the mid 1960's when the line recieved CTC. Also, CP 421 can have the tendency for interesting power combinations, and this sort of counts! I am no fan of the CP AC44CWM rebuilds, however the top of 8103's nose is black due to being in an accident or two, which improves it's appearance in my eyes, along with the CP 6259, built by GMD London in 1989 as SOO 6059 (SD60M). The 6259 has been a personal favorite on the roster for me for quite some time.

If only it was possible to re-create the commotion in the community the newly re-acquired CMQ SD40-2Fs caused back in mid June! CP 421 leans into the curve at Kleinburg (in the middle of Bolton and Elder/Vaughan IMS) with a shabby rebuild leading a pair of GMD London built SD40-2Fs in tow. At the time of this move, several rumors spread about the fate of these former Canadian Pacific (now owned once again by the same corporation who shed them off 5 years ago) units, mostly regarding retirement and storage in Winnipeg, however as of the upload date, at least 7 of the 10 CMQ SD40-2Fs are still active on Canadian Pacific's roster! it's been a pleasure having these units back on the roster

Most of us rail enthusiasts were thrilled to learn Canadian Pacific was starting to reactivate some of their stored SD40-2 locomotives back in 2018, in 2020 they're still at it! CP 6013 leads a GPS/Ballast (with manifest tackled on) south on the CP Mactier Sub on a pleasant May 2020 day. Note the vintage elevator on the left.

The CP Galt Subdivision from Guelph Junction to West Toronto has always been very captivating to me, neat views like this are a reason why. BNSF 6105 (GE ES44AC, built 09/2006) shoves on the rear of CP 650 under the Dundas Street underpass in Cooksville (Missisauga). Visible in this view is a former CP Rail transload facility, however I cannot recall it's purpose and when it was abandoned. Modern skyscrapers that make up the Toronto skyline are also visible. CP 650 is a train of ethanol loads bound for Albany, New York.
