On a winter day, VIA Rail (formerly CN’s) Spadina coachyard in downtown Toronto, Ontario is viewed in winter 1982. All the tracks are packed with passenger equipment, including an Ontario Northland TEE train for the Northlander and VIA Rail cars from the blue and yellow fleet and old heavyweights including some cars still painted in their former CN colors.

An eastbound commuter train with GO Transit 515 enters Union Station in downtown Toronto, Ontario with F40PH 515 during an early morning in August 1981. GO 510-515 were built by GMDD and they were the first F40PH's ever to be built in Canada in 1978.

CP RS-18 8784 is rolling through the yard in downtown Guelph, Ontario along the Speed River in the summer of 1982. This unit eventually was rebuilt to CP RS-18u 1852 in March 1989.

CP SW1200RS 8161 is viewed about to duck under the Galt Subdivision as it comes up to the Galt yard on the Simcoe Subdivision with cars from customers in Brantford. The customers were most likely Massey Combines and SC Johnson in Brantford on the former Lake Erie & Northern Railway. The track to the left was actually the CN Fergus Subdivision to Harrisburg, Ontario.

CN GP9 4575 and caboose 79614 are at Kitchener, Ontario in August 1981. GP9 4575 would eventually be rebuilt into GP9RM 7013 and was officially retired in 2000.
