I am a great railfan from the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. I have lots of amazing shots on this site, that everyone should love, from all over the city! The railways I have on this site are: CN, CP, BNSF, CEMR, GWWD, PDC, and a few other various images. I have some of the best images on this site, and I hope you check out all of them and give them stars. It takes lots of effort to take these images, but a simple click to give them a star, which gives me the encouragement to go out and get even more amazing pictures of Winnipeg trains.

A relatively rare sight as CN 1405, 268 and 7268 haul a local freight south on the CN Letellier Subdivision at Portage Junction. These GMD1's are slowly becoming less and less common, so I'm grateful to be able to see this one still operating in February 2017. They are heading to the Chevrier Industrial to switch out some industries.

<b>My First CP Train of 2017</b><br><br>CP 4422 and 2220 lead the southbound Altona freight on the CP La Riviere Subdivision with some covered hoppers and a bunch of black tanks, as they start to cross the CN Rivers Subdivision.

CN GMD1 #1408 is seen leading the Fort Whyte local towards Symington Yard on the CN Rivers Subdivision. The GMD1's are very rare to see operating these days, so seeing one leading is extra special.

CP 5863 and CP 6000 shunt some cars around in the Winnipeg Yard. CP 5863 was one of only two remaining units on the CP roster with the full-sized multimark (the other was CP 5911).<br><br>Fast forward to 2016, and there are very few active SD40-2's on the active CP roster, the rest are all in storage. I miss seeing them on trains, and even just shunting in the yards. At least they were operating.

Long hood forward CP 4414 hauls a 6-pack of cars east on the Oak Point Spur in Winnipeg near King Edward Street. This track used to be part of the CN Oak Point Subdivision, which CN abandoned in 1996. 2.7 miles in the city survived, and CP uses it to serve a few industries in northwestern Winnipeg. Although CP serves it, it still has CN stickers on the crossings. A crossing was replaced recently, and it was given CN Oak Point Sub stickers. Go figure.

This long CN freight mostly made up of lumber continues it's journey east on the CN Rivers Subdivision, as BCOL 4611 smokes it up trying to help get the train moving.

CN 3090 leads the Family Day Train away from Symington Yard on the CN St Boniface Lead in Winnipeg. The train will go up to the Seine River, then start back towards Symington.

CN 3105 and CN 102 were the locomotives on the southeast end of the annual CN Family Day Train in Winnipeg, which ran between Symington Yard and the Seine River several times. Here, they are beginning their trip back towards Symington Yard as they cross the Seine River.

Ex-BNSF 1685 has just coupled up to the historic 100+ year old Prairie Dog Central passenger cars, and is getting ready to file them away into the shed. This unit was built in 1957 for Manitoba Great Northern Railway, but was painted in Midland Railway of Manitoba colours as locomotive number 2. In 1971, it became Burlington Northern Manitoba 2, then in 1999 it became BNSF Manitoba 1685. It was retired in 2007 and donated to the PDC in 2010.

A pair of very old GE locomotives in indefinite storage in Winnipeg. The yellow one is a GE 50T built in May of 1947, and the red one is a Canada Cement GE 15T built in April of 1955. They are in pretty poor condition, and I imagine they are both inoperable. The yellow unit has moved in the last 10 years, but not under its own power, just being moved from one place to another in Winnipeg. They are both on rails, and connected to an active rail line. They are at the very end of a section of industrial spur tracks.
