![A SW1200RS of a different sort. Here we find VIPX (Vidal Industrial Park) #1511 sitting at the Lambton Diesel shop on the west end of CN's "C" yard at Sarnia. It has just been overhauled and repainted prior to VIP starting operations in Sarnia. The 1511 was originally built for Grand Trunk Western and also served on the Central Vermont see http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=8938 for a before photo.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/DSC_3083-200x150.jpg)

![CN 7258 switches cars in the small yard on the "farm track" in Sarnia, Ontario. This yard was used to store cars for Royal Polymers and Cabot Carbon. The Royal Polymers SW800 switcher 8620 can also be seen in the background. Royal Polymers closed with the plant demolished and the little switcher sold elsewhere.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/100_3335-200x150.jpg)

![STL&H 5615 and SOO 6614 seen at the CSX engine facility at Sarnia. CP locomotives were used by CSX to run traffic from Sarnia to Chatham and onto CP trackage at Chatham to Windsor and beyond stateside. Most often was a pair of CP Sd40-2's but sometimes you could get lucky with a SOO unit or in this case a STL&H as well.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/100_2441-200x150.jpg)

![Here we have the DOW 1007 switching cars into the large DOW Canada facility at Sarnia, Ontario. Located just south of the main CSX yard cars were switched in and out of the plant by the 1007 and left on the "old C&O main" as seen in the photo.
Sadly this is all gone now with the DOW facility closing, the tracks were removed and most of the plant was demolished. Thankfully the switcher was sold to VIP Rail in Sarnia and lives on.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/100_2917-200x150.jpg)

![All finished for the day at the CSX engine shop in Sarnia. This was back when CSX was still running their traffic from Sarnia to CP in Chatham for interchange and at that time was utilizing CP locomotives on the job (train D725) If i recall correctly this only lasted from 2003-2006. All traffic since has been interchanged at the CN yard at Sarnia.
The pair of CSX "canadian" GP38-2's to the left were most likely run on the D724 turn from Sarnia to Chatham and onto Blenheim Ontario as they were still serving the large WG Thompsons grain facility at that time.
The single GP38-'s in the middle of the shot were used for yard jobs and various customer switching in the Sarnia area.
Much has changed since this photo in terms of what trains are running on CSX now, no more CP power will be found and CSX has greatly diminished its service to the south of Sarnia.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/100_3218-200x150.jpg)

![These certainly were the days to be trackside as you just never knew what might show up on the next freight. Another evening westbound past the station at Sarnia with CN SD40-2W 5296, CN/IC SD40-2 6108 and BNSF SD9 1727. That little SD9 was certainly odd but it wasn't the only one we saw, at least two others made it through durring the "foreign power craze"](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/DSC_01531-200x150.jpg)

![Back when BNSF and other foreign power ran wild on CN in southern Ontario we find two BNF B40-8W's 550 and 575 passing the station at Sarnia. I seem to recall a certain Mr. Host from this site arriving a few minutes after the power had already gone by and was quite upset once I told him what it was!](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/DSC_2081-200x150.jpg)

![The new face of CSX in Ontario, instead of the ussual "canadian" units we were so used to CSX now has two former Conrail units 2799 and 2757 on the property both with remote control. 2799 was running back to home rails with the daily transfer seen here on the CN spur line.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/DSC_0340-200x150.jpg)
