![What five decades a picture can make! Here is CN 6218 ready for an excursion run up to Guelph sitting on one of the Spadina ready tracks. It's amazing how the Toronto landscape has changed. ![Here's a neat photo I came across from my dads collection- A CNR Windsor bound passenger train in a 1X1 configuration and with the old Oakville basket factory siding in the background. Check out the old rail cars to the far right in the photo, one would wonder if they were left behind for storage etc. The passenger train is heading westward when track 3 at Oakville was connected to the main at the west end before Kerr street.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Oakville-station-Dec-2-1972-2-200x150.jpg)

![I'm not sure if I would be looking on if one was using a torch to cut the CW Rail without safety glasses but that's how it back in this 1977 photo. Here's a CNR CWR train laying rail at Chartwell street as the conductor looks on with his lunch box radio, waiting to pull the movement westward and to start dropping the rail clear of the crossing. Taken from my fathers collection.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/CNR-Oakville-yard-CWR-train-May-1977-17-200x150.jpg)

![Norwood, where there was once a beautiful two story station with a freight shed now stands a glorified bus shelter. Here's the lonely CPR Norwood shelter that serves the morning and evening Budd Car commuters.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/CPR-Noorwood-1981-200x150.jpg)

![The never tiresome photos of old box cars and or old passenger coaches re-used again for company purposes. Here's Kinnear yard office on a warm June day, probably on one of my fathers many runs to the original Beach Road Kielbasa in Hamilton. Taken from my fathers collection.](http://www.railpictures.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/THB-Kinnear-yard-office-June-1982-200x150.jpg)

![On another of my fathers famous country side excursions, we made our way to the old 1902 CNR Fergus station. Not much happening as evident of the rusted rails, some CNR OCS flat cars and the all too common boarded-up windows of defunct railway stations. As sad as it looks, one could only imagine of what this scene looked like at the turn of the century when trains ruled. ![On a trip to the Hamilton farmers market at Centre mall, my father would detour over to Birmingham Ave to check out some TH&B action. Here's the Fisher yard office with a full Fisher yard. Back in those days there were a few jobs that started out of Fisher yard and one required a clearance to go up the Belt Line to the connecting Kinnear yard. The yard office and most of the tracks are long gone save two plus the Fisher main and the Stelco lead. ![Here's another pic on our way to my fathers home town of Windsor. They were long trips going to Windsor but I do miss the days when he would venture off and take us to these now historic locations. Here looking east and with no trains in the block is the CASO Ridgetown station which is still standing today less the tracks and signals. ![Here is another great shot of an era long gone- the control tower at the CNR Halton sub and CPR Galt sub diamond. Since the CNR Halton sub highline was built by-passing this diamond, the tower and old freight shed became obsolete and boarded up before being torn down. Luckily the station still exists but the tower and small freight shed are long gone.
