VIA 72 is underway out of Windsor with a F40 wrap leading the way. What would become VIA 76 later that afternoon can be seen in the distance also sporting a wrapped F40 leader.

After swapping the American crew for the Canadian yard crew, CP 234 which had previously ran as CP 244 before the ID change, backs into the stub end Windsor yard for termination. Usually this train makes it's way through Windsor and eventually terminates in Toronto. Mumblings on the scanner would suggest the 4700 was not doing so good and with no available power to take the train further East they terminated it in Windsor.

With a friendly wave from conductor Laura, CN A439 rolls through the Town of Tecumseh passing one of many famous pizza shops around Windsor-Essex. Founded in 1984 Naples is a go to for myself when it comes to ordering pizza. With Windsor-Essex being known for its pizza you really have to be good to succeed around here.

After a uneventful day where trains and the sun wouldn't cooperate, I heard over the scanner of a CP 140 in the area. Originally planning to head East for a sunset shot, I heard over the scanner of another Eastbound right on 140's tail. With a quick spin I made my way back West to Tilbury. In Tilbury the tracks curve from East/West to Northeast/Southwest. With this being the case I knew that if I could make it West of the curve the tracks and sunset would line up better. Here we see CP 2-244 hot on the tail of 140 rolling through Tilbury, a few hundred feet behind me is where they would lean into the curve following the geography of Southern Ontario.

Englehart to North Bay train 214 does track speed through New Liskeard Ontario on its way Southbound towards headquarters. A deactivated GRS mast and cantilever still stand which once stood guard over a switch for a since removed siding.

CP 141 blasts past the US&S staggered approach signal for the West side Ringold diamond in Chatham. Leading the way today is CP 7021, one of 5 painted in commemorative colours to honor the fallen.

CN's only road freight into Windsor makes their final turn into Van De Water yard off of what is one of the only operating portions of the CASO left. Bringing cars from London for interchange with ETR, CP along with industries CN serves in Windsor, we were treated to a classic Canadian cab dash 9 leader on the Westbound run for a good month and a half making for plentiful photo opportunities of this classic unit.

One of Ontario Southland's prized possessions are their F units. Here we see OSR 6508, one of 3 F units they own crossing a lesser travelled dirt road on their way towards Tillsonburg. After just under 4 years of running the former Canada Air Line for CN, with bridge repairs needed along the line and the funds just not there to justify continuing service the once shortcut across Southern Ontario is now just a memory. The train making the return trip back to St. Thomas would be the last time a train has crossed this crossing since.

The corn crop is reaching its full maturity as a pair of classic GMD1's limp L514 back to Chatham after working the Argis elevator in Thamesville. The crew wasn't too happy with these units as on the way to Thamesville one of them died. Seems whenever there is pair of them, one craps the bed.

The engineer of CP's Havelock turn notches his 3 GP38's between 1 and 2 to keep the train between 10 and 15MPH as they rock along the frozen snow covered trackage of the Havelock sub. This train operates between Toronto and Havelock 3 times a week bringing loaded frac sand cars back from the mine in Nephton. On the opposite day it's Eastward counterpart brings empties up from Toronto. Usually having a GP20 somewhere in the consist I was delighted to see a trio of original EMD's hauling today's train back to the six.

CP 147 with a heritage paint ACu in the lead and ex. SOO 6027 in second, roars past the massive grain elevator at Glencoe. About a week prior to this shot the facility was even larger as the remains of 4 smaller concrete bins as well as demolition equipment could be seen in the spot where they once stood.

For part of May and the whole month of June, the local power out of London has had CP 3018 on it, one of 3 action red GP38's left on CP's roster. For the majority of it's time in Southern Ontario it was either facing East or was sandwiched between 2 other CP geeps. Thankfully towards the end of June the power was swapped around so that 3018 would lead West. Here we see the action red geep leaning into the curve at Drumbo on it's journey West back to London.

Canadian Pacific's yearly spray train is something railfans all over Southern Ontario look forward to as CP usually tacks on something "ratty or old" as the leader. While crews might not appreciate the older units, railfans love seeing the history rolling down the track. This year was no exception as a pacman SD40 got the honors. Here we see the train passing the staggered approach signal for Ringold diamond.

Thanks to a heads up from a friend the night before saying 244 was through Elkhart I knew that if NS didn't screw around it would put 244 in Windsor right at sunrise. This would be the 3rd of 3 locations I would end up being able to shoot him at between Windsor and London. While chasing I heard over the scanner that they would be tieing down at Lobo siding and the crew van would be there to pick them up. Well that sure was the unfortunate case ...or so I thought. After watching 141 roll by at the East end of Lobo, just as I was about to leave I heard the low rumble of an EMD throttling up. Sure enough it was this guy on the move again. Shit there was one spot I wanted to shoot but I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make it, well better try anyways. With a quick run over a hill and through some bushes surprisingly enough I was able to beat him to one of only a few US&S bidirectional sets left on the Windsor sub.

A pair of ex. SOO EMD's lead what I can only presume to be a T10 back to Toronto. I was out trackside with a friend when we got word from a buddy up the line that 6248 was leading a autorack movement out of storage. On their way they would grab T10's power and cars which were sitting in Trenton. It was sure a treat to see a solid EMD lashup on CP these days.

CP's yearly spray train is a run that railfans all around Southern Ontario look forward too as it usually has something interesting leading it. This year was no exception. After a perfectly sunny Westbound chase from London to the outskirts of Windsor, the train made a quick turn around at the old CS Wind spur and started its Eastbound journey back to London. Rumor was that they would spend the night in Windsor but that wasn't the case. Knowing there was the possibility of a sunset silhouette shot I chased the train back out to Tilbury where I was able to grab this shot. Getting a train with a sunset has been on my bucket list for a while and I'm glad to finally check that off.

After working around Thompson's elevator in Blenheim, CN L514 takes the East leg of the Wye from what used to be the old Pere Marquette Sub 1 from Windsor to St. Thomas and onto the old PM Sub 2 up to Chatham, which at one time ran between Sarnia and Erieau with ferry services for the PM and C&O on either end. In the mid 70's C&O removed the portion of the line from where I was standing for this photo, South to Erieau. Other then the diamonds with CP and CN in Chatham, this remains to be the only portion of Sub 2 to be removed.
