I was born and raised in Windsor. I'm a music and education student at the University of Windsor and I hope to be a future educator. I shoot with a Canon Rebel T3 with 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses.

VIA/Amtrak's Maple Leaf passes under the abandoned NS&T bridge in Merritton, Ontario. I believe this bridge has since been removed.

After working in Guelph all morning and into the afternoon, L542 heads back south on the Fergus Spur. In this scene they are passing FloChem while the lead unit dips down on a rough section of track.

After working industries in the northern end of Guelph, L542 prepares to back onto their train to shove around the wye. After making the necessary moves at Guelph Junction they'll head back south with the GMTX leading to Cambridge.

An ETR job is hard at work shuttling cars around Ojibway in southwest Windsor. After working a few customers and organizing some storage LPG tanks in Ojibway Yard the crew came down to the old Windsor Salt Mine spur to grab a cut of loaded grain cars for ADM. ETR no longer services Windsor Salt but they still use the spur to stage grain cars for the large ADM terminal nearby.

CN A439 makes a rare daylight appearance in Windsor on a Tuesday afternoon. Normally A438 leaves at this time with A439 returning from London in the very early morning hours. This stretch of track was once a significant mainline; part of the CASO Subdivision with this stretch built by the MCR. Today only the north main is used by 438/439 and a local job with the south being severed at all the crossings. Both mains are ripped up past the 401 overpass in the background.

CN L542 peeks out from a rock cut at Blackbridge Road. All traffic including trains must stop before proceeding at this crossing due to the poor visibility the rock cuts create.

An ETR job works the CP interchange yard next to CP's Windsor Yard. The Detroit skyline is very prominent here and provides a great backdrop for photos; a view I will never get tired of looking at.

CN L542 passes through a wooded area on the south side of Guelph as they make their way towards Guelph Junction and XV Yard. Believe it or not this day was my first time shooting a GMD1 ever and I enjoyed every moment being around its presence.

An ETR job moves stored LPG tanks around their otherwise unused yard and spur tracks in Amherstburg, ON. The track here ends about 500 feet away and is the southern terminus for ETR and is the southern most rail line in Canada. The spur they are coming off of used to serve General Chemical and then Honeywell up until Honeywell closed the plant and tore it down a few years ago. There are hopes that this property will be the future site of a new automotive glass factory but it's not set in stone yet with one of three other cities on the company's shortlist potentially winning the bid instead.

VIA 73 has just arrived at Windsor (Walkerville) Station. After unloading passengers the crew will shove the train down to the wye where the Chrysler Spur meets the Chatham Sub to turn the train around and prep it for the return to Toronto.

After working their newest customer, MotiPark/FCA, the crew of ETL 108 head back for their Lincoln Road shops one crossing over from this crossing (Kildare). MotiPark is a recent branch of Essex Terminal Railway/Morterm Limited that opened last year on the former GM Transmission Plant property. They turned the land the factory occupied and all of the accompanying employee parking lots into storage lots and loading areas for brand new Dodge Grand Caravans and Chrysler Pacificas built at the nearby FCA Windsor Assembly Plant. Although the storage lot had been set up about a year ago, proper rail service just started last week with local railfans buzzing about seeing autoracks and a new customer on ETR, especially in an area of ETR's network that has seen several customers close/terminate rail service over the last few years (GM, Ford, and Hearn Group). So far it looks like this will be a high carload customer for ETR with the entire loading area full and a line of recently loaded racks sitting in their yard off Lincoln just west of this crossing when this photo was taken. I've been bit by the ETR bug the last few weeks and it seems every time I've gone out to shoot them I've been lucky with good light and photo opportunities.

CP 240 emerges from the Detroit River rail tunnel on a sunny Saturday afternoon. About 3 minutes earlier, an ETR local passed over the bridge in the background. One day I will get an over/under meet here between CP and ETR. The tunnel between Windsor and Detroit was built in 1910 by the Michigan Central Railroad and has gone through some major transformations, and different owners over the years. Today CP owns the tunnel and is the only railroad that uses it regularly, compared to a few decades ago when multiple railroads ran trains through it. The tunnel was enlarged in 1994 to accommodate excess height traffic, but still cannot handle large cubed double stack intermodal.

The morning ETR job pauses for a moment while the conductor prepares the train for kicking operations in Ojibway Yard. This yard is used to service several of ETR's biggest customers on their network along with storage for LPG tank cars.

An Essex Terminal Railway local crosses over the cut for the Detroit River rail tunnel. The tank car is for Crown Royal (Diageo) in Amherstburg, ON. I was about 3 minutes from getting a perfect over/under meet here as CP 240 emerged from the tunnel not too long after 107 passed.

An ETR job passes the construction for the Gordie Howe International Bridge on the northern end of Ojibway Yard. This is the overpass over Ojibway Parkway that will connect the 401 to the bridge's toll/customs plaza and the Duty Free Store. I'm looking forward to photographing this area over the next few years to document the transition.

A surprise run down to Amherstburg, ON. by ETR yesterday caught me off guard. I was very unprepared for a chase (I needed to get gas first) and I was unfamiliar with the roads in the area for shooting. But, with a little help from Google I was able to get a few shots of them running south of Ojibway Yard which happens infrequently. ETR only has one customer left in Amherstburg which doesn't need daily service so they only head down once or twice a week. This train ended up being an extra job taking empty LPG tanks for storage. There is a yard in Amherstburg called Texas Yard that used to service a few businesses. Hearn Group, General Chemical/Honeywell, a rock quarry?, and Crown Royal/Diageo all used to receive rail service with only Crown Royal/Diageo still online. So to make use of the rails here ETR uses all the yard tracks and spurs that are still intact for storing LPG tank cars. These are also the most southern rails in Canada still in service. In this shot they are taking a cut of tank cars to the old Honeywell spur from Texas Yard.

After working around Ojibway all morning, the 7am job heads back east to work a few more customers before heading to CP and CN to interchange traffic. The construction in the background is part of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project. The 401 (which currently ends at Ojibway Parkway) will cross the parkway and the tracks. A toll plaza and what I assume will be Duty Free stores will be on the other side before the bridge. As of now the expected year of completion for the entire project is 2024 and will probably be one of the most significant infrastructure projects in North America over the several years.

After recently taking a loaded grain train from CP, ETR wasted no time getting it out to Ojibway Yard for ADM. Here they are passing a storage warehousing facility between Crawford and Elm Avenues in West Windsor.
