Rolling west along the CP North Toronto sub, CP 7041 pulls CP 651 and a little extra manifest, about 25 cars, before CP 7009 shows (pushing on the tail). In the background is the C.P.R. North Toronto clock tower and station. Built in 1916, the station has not seen revenue service in 90 years, and no passengers at all in 75.

Due to COVID among other factors, CN has been changing IDs, combining trains, and abolishing trains every since the pandemic started. The most recent, CN M395 (Toronto-Eola IL replacing 399) traverses out of downtown Brampton with SD70M-2 duo 8853 and 8830 sandwiching IC C44-9W 2714 pulling 100+ cars of manifest. This train would go on to drop any 399 traffic in Battle Creek MI (399s new originate location) before continuing to Eola. A first for me, as I can count the number of times I've been on the Halton since February on 1 hand. Shoutout to the sun for defeating the clouds for 10 seconds while 395 was on approach!

CP 3-GPS-10 makes it's way EB past Mile 202.1 of the CP Belleville sub with CP 5936, CMQ (Bangor and Aroostook heritage unit) and CP 6067. The fall colours are finally showing up and for once, I'm thankful for clouds as this would have been horrendously backlit in the mid autumn evening.

CN 394 glides down the hill on approach to Brampton GO with CN 100 locomotive 3234 leading CN 3245 with CN 3844 mid DPU. This was the first time I've been to Brampton since February, and while the weather was generally overcast, the trains themselves did not disappoint!

CN 303 travels north coming around the bend at Gormley ON, and is greeting with a clear on the approach to Quaker, and a very happy railfan. CN 2429 (C40-8M), CN 5611 (SD70I) make up the power for this train. This was actually the first ever train I shot with my current camera, and this specific consist isn't catchable today, as CN 2429 is one of many C40-8M "Cowls" that have been sold for scrap. While that news, when it first broke out, was very sad, at least I have this tangible memory of 2429 riding the rails one last time.

CP 421-02 crawls northbound through Woodbridge past the Wooodbridge Foam Corporation at Mile 11.9 of the CP MACtier sub. Leading the way is Southwestern Ontario icon CP 8002 (254 memories) and CP 8062, 2 AC4400CWM rebuilds. After being cloudy with tiny pockets of sun, it was nice to see the clouds thin out for one last train before heading home; even if it is 8002.

CP 7047 heads west at a comfortable 25mph with CP SD40-2 6017 and CMQ SD40-2F 9011 trailing. It was really nice to see the old vs new EMD consist, with the recent rebuilds versus the 40 year old veterans. The ID of this train is still debated as the SD40s brought a Herzog ballast train into Toronto yard earlier in the day. They added 7047 and about 75 cars of manifest up front and continued west. RTC called out 7047W as 421, though. Once the train hit Sudbury, it dropped the manifest still on the train and continued north as 3GPS-16. What a perfect way to end a summer, that has been full of amazing CP consists.

VIA 907 leads a 4-pack of LRC coaches through Oshawa right behind CN M305. VIA 907 did not stop at Oshawa VIA (maybe that could help ID the train).

CP 421-15 powers up after briefly holding for a GO train to clear the Davenport diamond before continuing its journey westbound through Toronto towards the CP Mactier sub. CP 421 had an extra special consist, with CP 7021 leading CP SD60M 6259 and ES44AC 9359. Although it looks like I got a bit screwed by the clouds, this photo was actually taken on a sunny day. The reason for the "dimmed" light, is the smoke from the west coast wildfires had blown across the continent and made it's way to Ontario. Luckily, the smoke was high enough in the atmosphere to not affect the air quality, but it is both fascinating and worrying how much it can affect the amount of sunlight that reaches us.

Built in 1948 for industrial switching, number 1 now spends it's time taking tourists for cab rides down a short stretch of track outside the Niagara Railway Museum. The switcher had a max speed of 8kph on the industrial track (who's name escapes me) and definitely doesnt run faster then that now. A neat find in the town of Fort Erie, they are continuing to restore it this winter by putting in new floors along with other things. I highly recommend checking them out, but check online for dates and times when they are open.

CP T69 makes its westbound trip towards London in the evening with Ex-D&H CP 7307 leading CP 3134 and CP 2242. Just about the enter shadows that continue for the next half mile, T69 wastes no time flying past the Blandford siding. Seeing 7307 lead was a nice treat, even if it is in candy apple red and not the D&H

Charging westbound out of an afternoon storm, CN 435 is bathed in evening light coming down the hill towards Woodstock. Leading is veteran C40-8 standard cab 2103, with an SD70I and SD70M-2 trailing. Also noted is a beautiful mechanical bell and a nice horn from a friendly crew!

CP 8805 pushes CP 650 eastbound out of Innerkip Ontario, past one of many corn fields they would have to go by. Although it is just a Gevo (ES44AC), the more interesting rail artifact is the CP buffer car with the mulitmark logo, active in its second life to this day!

Barrie Collingwood Railway 1001 heads east crossing 8th line near Utopia ON with 3 cars headed for Innisfil. This line means a lot to me, as I would see them every year on vacation through Stayner until 2011, when Collingwood abandoned its half of the line. 10 years after I last saw this train, I participate in a mini chase through 3 crossings (after it leaving unexpectedly). It was cool to chase it in the present, while reliving past memories.

After working Wolverton for a brief period of time, CP 255 screams towards Innerkip doing every bit of track speed possible. I had actually given up on this train minutes prior, and was packing up to head home when I heard the horn off in the distance. Sometimes you get lucky, I guess. Also nice is the 2 somewhat clean AC44CWs on this one, which is the best you can ask for when this train is almost always 2 GEs.

CN 583 rolls through Woodstock on it's way back to London with CN 4717 and GMTX 2248 and 30 cars. While I am not a huge fan of these CN/GMTX duos, I couldnt pass up a bridge shot in decent light.

With zero expectations on what this train was, I set out for the EB CP that I watched leave London (digitally). As it rounded the bend, I realized I was about to capture the last unit train that runs on the Galt. CP 8753 leads CP 650 through Innerkip ON with CP 9720 nose out on the tail. First catch since being on vacation, I'll take it!

CP 2-240 speeds through Innerkip with a pair of SD30C-ECOs (CP 5028, CP 5020) pulling over 100 autoracks for Wolverton. Overtaking CP T79 in the Pender spur, 2-240 does close to track speed around the curve. 2-240 would end up dropping CP 5020 and 103 autoracks in Wolverton, before continuing to Toronto with 5028 and 5 autoracks. To cap it off, CP 5028 has a fouled K3HL, making for an interesting horn disturbing a quiet Tuesday evening in Innerkip.

CP 421 blasts through Leaside with an unforgettable consist! CP 7010, CP 6644, and CP 7016 showcase the best that CP has to offer regarding the special paint schemes released on the SD70ACUs. To top it all off; a Tier 4 BNSF Gevo number 3905 makes this consist tick almost every single box in a "dream consist." Well, it isn't dreaming anymore... For further breakdown: CP 7010- Heritage scheme "script" lettering CP 6644- Military D-day commemorative "spitfire" replica scheme CP 7016- Heritsge scheme "block" lettering And of course BNSF 3905- Tier 4 Gevo

CP 7015 pushes CP 113 up the MacTier sub towards VIT (Vaughan Intermodal Terminal) where it would work before continuing northwest. 7015 was the first block heritage scheme to be showcased, along with script sister 7010.
