About Colin Arnot


I love British steam trains! but Canadian trains are OK. Earlier images were captured on a Sony DSC-H7, then Canon T1i and now Canon 60D with 18-135 IS lens. I am more interested in recording an interesting train picture than creating the perfect photograph, however I always hope my pics are "acceptable" so others can share my experiences. My pics are my "journal" of railfaning.

CN 2661 and BCOL 4642 make a light engine move into Scotford Yard. They have been working at the Heartland Sulphur Terminal a couple of miles to the east and are returning to the yard shop tracks for a break. Nice to see the old BC paint scheme, getting pretty rare these days.

Edmonton Radial Railway Society's car #42 draws up to the car stop outside the 1893 Fire Hall at Fort Edmonton Park. When built in 1893 the fire hall sat at 98 Street and 101 Avenue and served as town office, police station and fire hall. The street car was built in 1912 by the St. Louis Car Company for the City of Edmonton and was in service until the end of street car operations in 1951. After restoration by ERR it was put into service in 1984 at the Park where it has been the reliable workhorse ever since.

Locomotive 107 makes its way around the approximately 2 mile loop at Fort Edmonton Parks. The prairie type (2-6-2) locomotive was built in 1919 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the Industrial Lumber Company in Oakdale, Louisiana. The locomotive was brought to Fort Edmonton Park in 1977, where it was rebuilt and converted to burn oil and went into service in 1978. The Edmonton Yukon & Pacific was the first railway built into Edmonton.
