I am a former ACR agent-operator now retired and living in the Phoenix, Arizona area. I worked there for 11 years, mostly at Steelton, Frater and Hawk Junction. I never did work Wawa and only one weekend at Franz. I have a website with lots of ACR photos, as well as a lot of other railways. http://algomacentral.railfan.net/

Train No. 2 charges uphill just south of Searchmont. Train has extra coaches and cafe cars added for the "Snow Train".

In the Bush!! I am not sure what happened here as this was after I had left the ACR. There are not two cars here, but rather this is the same car cut or broken in half and the halves were lined up side by each.

Ex ACR GP7lm 100 is at Hawk Junction on a warm summer night. I used 5 No. 5B flashbulbs on Kodachrome 64 film and an f stop of 5.6. It was nearly midnight by the time it got dark enough to take this night shot.

The branch derailed a few cars of sinter when they picked a point as they were heading down the lead to the south yard. The track structure was soft as well from the still wet early spring (late May!!) ground, and these heavy cars pounded the track a lot.

Psgr Extra 151 South has crossed the Searchmont Highway on a pleasant late July afternoon. This was the time when the Agawa Canyon Tour was becoming very popular and No. 1 and 2 had reached maximum length (about 25 or so cars total) so psgr extras were called for the overflow. Here the train has some of the so-called "Jesse James" coaches (called that account their age) as well as a couple of the ex-Central of Georgia "City of Miami" coaches and the ex IC-MOP lunch car on the tail end. Back then no one minded people standing in the vestibules...try that today on the sanitized and sealed tour train :). Soon the Agawa Canyon Tour would be operated as a Canyon Turn running as Second Class Passenger Trains No. 3 and No. 4. The 151 is still in service today working a grain elevator in Saginaw, Texas. Southbound Train No. 2 is crossing the Bellevue Trestle on a nice warm summer afternoon. The Agawa Canyon Tour was becoming very popular then and as a result No. 2 kept getting bigger and later with all of the Flag Stops to deal with, as well as regular station stops. Within a couple of years the Agawa Canyon Tour trains would run as separate trains (No. 3 and 4) to Canyon and return as a second class passenger train.
