Oh, there are days and then there are daze...
…. ( like the many times at Bayview where the bird watching is good ).....
And sometimes the day's fanning just happens to all come together.....
... the word was out....effective July 1986 CP Rail eliminating the Operators' position at Guelph Junction...
and the fanning was very good that June 8.....three heavy freights within two hours.... on a Sunday morning!
And so much to do.....chatting with the Operator, checking the GO storage yard, checking the lighting conditions, lining up the photo angles....
a heavy five unit CP Rail #916 approaches the Junction at smoky speed with a SD, three big M's and a big C.....
5943 – 45xx – 4505 – 4568 – 4553 ….. SD40-2 / M630 / C630M / M630 / M630,
and the Operator stands her ground to hoop the Eastbound's train orders....
At Guelph Junction, June 8, 1986, Kodachrome by S.Danko
Notable: was so busy that morning overlooked recording the young lady's name !
Oh...in the GO yard that is 504, 907, 905 left to right. And two CP Rail plows on the right....
...Guelph Junction never been the same since.....( granted the OSR years were good too...now that has passed too)...

SD40, who is the lady operator with the gorgeous hair ? Ahhh, but maybe more interested in the big MLW’s behind the SD than her. Great picture, a very nice trip down memory lane. Thanks for posting, John
And she’s wearing open shoes with a slight heel, no less ! You captured so much in this scene !
You didn’t even get her name? How could you sleep at night? )
I don’t remember ever seeing her there.Chickenhead or the Farmer boys and Earl Fitz.Maybe someone was on holidays or I was there at the wrong time
…did know her name at one time…overlooked recording same (sorry to disappoint!)…but here is a clue: I believe the young lady transferred to a dispatching job…

Nice shot! Judging by the weathering pattern on the second unit, that unknown 45xx is likely 4569. It along with 4570 had a real “skin condition” problem in their final years.
