CN SW1200RS 1241 works the GECO Branch in industrial Scarborough, passing by Crown Zellerbach and their siding (T420) on the east side of Sinnott Road, just south of Comstock Road. The unit is on the Canadian SKF Lead (track T430) that ran north along Sinnot Road, with sidings and spurs branching off to serve Canadian SKF (at the very north end, closed 1981 and now a ScotiaBank call centre), the T.Eaton Company (Eaton's warehouse), Alcan Building Materials, Crown Zellerbach Bulding Materials, and Home/Acron Lumber. This lead is removed now (and the Crown Zellerbach building is today home to a pharmaceutical company), but Home Lumber to the south still recieves cars and is one of the few remaining rail customers on the GECO Branch today.Original photographer unknown, Dan Dell'Unto collection negative (large-format scanned with a DSLR, with some restoration work done).

  1. If I remember correctly, the CN Geco spur was connected to CP’s industrial spur, which branched off the Belleville Sub around mile 201 near Warden and Ellesmere.

  2. Alexander, both weren’t connected: each was separate with CP serving the north and CN the south sides of Eglinton Avenue, which separated both of them.

  3. Definitely no connection anywhere across Eglinton?
