The three railways of Duff, Part 1: CN. Since it is CN track, I will start with them. For a few months in the Spring, 531 was cancelled and 562 was doing the transfer duties normally handled by 531 (NS cars in Fort Erie, stacks delivered to CSX in Buffalo, and manifest for the BPRR). They were typically going across the border earlier than 531 normally would, and thus were coming back (as 561) much earlier than 530 normally does which meant an opportunity to shoot them. Here, they’re backing onto cars left earlier in the evening for them by C93 (which was led by NS 3344). The coils visible in the shot were in storage at the time. Next up is CP (link here), then NS (link here).

  1. Whoops need to correct myself – the cars behind them are from the BPRR and they’re pulling ahead to get onto the south track to lift the cars from NS which are further back in the yard.
