Very interesting picture James.
Any sign of 50-tonner number 3 leased from H.Broer?
Thanks Kevin, it’s a pretty interesting if not mysterious place.
@R.L., no sorry, I am not even sure which unit you mean. But what you see is what I am aware of.
Is there a specific reason why certain tanks wear a white paint scheme with a red stripe in the middle?
Nice catch!
The red and white are hydrochloric acid. Likely a safety thing so they stand out.
Interesting… Thanks!
I see all kinds of different colored tanks these days, does anyone know whats so special about the green, yellow and blue paint schemes?
Do you know if Martech just does work on railway cars or other stuff as well?
Neat shot Jamie.
I’ve no clue really what the scope of their operations is. It’s a pretty big facility. Like I said earlier, interesting if not mysterious.
Martech is a rail services company

In this operation they obviously switch out their own cars and bring the cars to the interchange at CN Southern yard. In essence it’s a small shortline servicing the customers on the former CASO east side in welland
Martech also does (or did) contract switching – they handled the Conigas spur to the Allanburg paper plant after Trillium gave up switching that line in 2016 (Trillium only switched it for about a year). Not sure if Martech bothers with industrial switching outside of their own as their website does not list it as a service any longer.
But they run to/from Southern yard at least once a day approx mid afternoon (Per their website probably weekdays only).
Martech cleans these cars out for procor Steve but from what I gather from what I was told on Friday straight from the horse’s mouth is that Welded Tube owns and operates their critter themselves – not Martech. So really they just do their own switching and the other customer on the ex-Caso does their own as well.
James, how does this explain both critters being seen hauling lowded and empty pipe cars to southern yard?
Martech formerly did it but Welded Tube does it themselves now
Thanks for all the info on Martech Jamie and Steve.
If anyone is curious why this unit was remembered to 615 (from 53 I believe), well that’s the address of the facility there on Rusholme Road.
awesome work James. Btw Ray when was #3 last seen? Maybe it is inside?
Doesn’t appear to be, Steve. https://www.spacie.ca/p/on/welland/-/rusholme-road/615/for-lease
And thank you
Awesome – love those pictures.
I have no photo or info. It disappeared from CTG some time ago with no data.
Part of it is still for lease. Rumour was building was condemned however it seems not?

The building in the picture is currently being demolished.
Wild. Took long enough!!
The whole complex has been nuked. GIO S13 108 and the ex Stelco unit are thats left.
108 to switch Southern yard as needed and the stelco GE for sale!
