Caption: When I was a lot younger and more cold-resistant, I'd head out on week nights, after my girlfriend kicked me out, to do night photos. This is the former Canadian Northern station at North Edmonton. It is on the line that went from downtown out o the Vegreville subdivision. Off to the right was a diamond crossing over the CN main line (ex-GTP). I am not sure when this station was torn down. The diamond is gone and this line was replaced by LRT train tracks that tunnel under the CN main. The faint lighting on the snow in the foreground was from the headlight of train # 2, the "Supercontinental". Hope all the station foamers like this!

Well, THIS station foamer likes this. This is a great shot. I’m surprised the lights did not reflect back into the camera lens and end up all over the place. )
Perfect little building. They have more historical character than the big ones.
My first time at North or East Edmonton was in about 1986. I do not recall this building. There was a gray building on the north side of the Wainwright Sub, just west of the Vegreville wye (between Fort road and 66 St). The building that I remember…..
….. Was about this size, and had at least one garage style door for MOW speeders. I do not recall an interesting soffet detail, though. I, too, do not remember when the building was razed.
This photo is terrific! I used to ride my 10 speed here back in the summer of 1972. I would meet my Dad at work and have lunch in this station, he was a carman for the CN and looked after the reefers in the area. The other part that is missing, when visiting this area now, is the huge green water tower that could be seen from here.
