NAR 300, a combine or comboose take your pick. This car was built in 1899 and was still in regular service when this image was taken, 1982. It was used on a the NAR and way freight job north of Edmonton. Generally between trips it was serviced and stored at what we called the "coach yard" at the downtown CN / Via station. On this day it was coupled to NAR 1602, built by Pullman in 1925.

as info, the baggage car was built as a Pullman “Baggage / Lounge”. The baggage door at the far end is original……..but the rest of the car used to have windows which were plated over during conversion. What a change…a car built for luxury trains in the U.S. northeast spent most of it’s career in Mixed train service in Northern Alberta1

NAR 300 was built by Jackson & Sharpe in 1899 and perhaps originally B&A 630
