Caption: Contrasting with the gloomy weather, freshly painted "subway red" TTC A-6 class PCC 4370 heads northbound in Mount Pleasant Avenue traffic on the St. Clair streetcar route bound for Eglinton Loop (incorrectly signed for Keele Loop), passing ex-Kansas City A-14 class PCC 4775 heading southbound at Millwood Ave (north of Davisville) in mid 1972. The Mount Pleasant streetcar service was operated as part of the St. Clair streetcar line for decades, and eventually Mount Pleasant was made its own streetcar route in 1975, only to by discontinued a year later in 1976 and the tracks ripped up (more on that in this photo).
It's interesting to note that if one turned 90 degrees to the right from where this photo was taken, they'd be staring at the famed George's Trains store location at 510-512 Mount Pleasant Ave., long a destination of railfans, model railroaders and transit enthusiasts since at least the 1950's (the store unfortunately closed and moved to their present Markham location in May 2009).

I made many trips to George’s Trains in the 1980′s, though by that time the streetcars were gone, replaced by trolley buses… which always seemed odd to me.
