Caption: CN train #331 rolls through CN's Stuart St. Yard in Hamilton with some interesting interlopers in tow: GO Transit's entire fleet of six GMD-built F40PH locomotives, bound for their new owner Amtrak in the States. Casualties of all the new F59PH's GO acquired, former 510-515 have been retired, sold, and given their new 400-series Amtrak numbers (410-415, at the end of Amtrak's ~210 unit fleet), but not yet repainted or had their GO logos and lettering removed. The head-end consist is CN GP40-2W 9655, GTW GP40-2 6416, another unknown CN GP40-2W, and GO/Amtrak F40PH's 415, 412, 414, 411, 413 & 410.
Visible in the background are various industrial buildings that have since been leveled in recent years. No doubt Hamilton natives can point them all out, but notable are the old Canada Iron Foundries (Canron) on the left, and CN's Hamilton Express Building in the upper middle (built 1964, closed 1997, demolished 2009). The old CN diesel shop next door (teaming with switcher units) continued to be in use under Railink's Southern Ontario Railway until it too was demolished in the recent past for GO Transit service expansions.

Very cool! What’s the spur crossing Stuart Street at left?
Jacob, I think there were a few that crossed Stuart St. to the industries on that side. I’ve been told by sources that one was a lead up Caroline St., with some trailing-point sidings that lead into Canron.
Great shot. Nice to see a Plasser PUM tamper and Pyke Model K ballast regulator in the scene!
The brick building with the white sign was moved to the harbour front .
