Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes. PNR track crews wave at GEXR 432 as they pass Kent/Dublin St in Guelph. PNR has been installing new crossing protection along Kent St, a new switch (just behind me) and CTC signals (also just behind me for the MP49 switch and siding).

In this photo, the old protection stands guard warning Kent St. motorists of any nearby opposition on the railway - but this signal will be removed soon. The new crossing protection has been tightened along the right of way removing the need for these old signals for Kent St. It should also be noted that Kent St runs on both sides of the railway - this is in effect fully separated street-running.

All signalled crossings on the Guelph sub are effectively being replaced with CTC compatible equipment.

  1. Good David Bowie reference there Steve, cool shot as well :)

  2. Looks like the driver was doing a nice 10 mph for you there Stephen!

  3. Yes. But not for me, the workers :)

  4. Stephen, not only a colourful and well composed picture, but one that includes GEXR pumpkin orange today no longer at Kent & Dublin, timeless railway custom ( the high sign from the PNR crew member on the right ), and one that captures change in transition. New crossing signals going in, preparation of wider road bed and line side fencing to come, and love the beautiful brick houses on the north side . And how do you arrange sunshine without a cloud in the blue sky ! Wow, many thanks.

  5. Thank you. Just lucky it came into place. 3030 was my fave and just had to shoot it and chose here. They came thru around 0830 to 0900 usually.

I lived here for 2 years 2003 to 2005. Just don’t have too many photos to show for it. A few but not many were good :)

  6. This crossing is now closed and fenced off.
