This was a favourite Parry Sound location of mine during the early morning hours until the late 1980s when the trees off to the left grew to such size that shadow was cast over the scene. In this view CP 5547 in its 'as issued' paint scheme leads sisters 5740 and 5739 northward toward Sudbury as MoW workers prepare to watch roll-by. The arrival of each train at this popular station was almost like a social gathering. The old station lost its' status in the 1980s, closed, was almost lost, but was rescued and rebuilt as a "Gallery". But trains don't stop here any more.

  1. The Canadian stops here though??

  2. Oops!! Yes, it should….if VIA hasn’t killed all the ridership with its inane scheduling. I was so busy moaning to myself over the loss of such good times in years back I completely forgot about the passenger service. Thanks for the wakeup, H.T.G. :o )

  3. Classic CP station building and paint. Brings back childhood memories of stations seen from Cooksville to Lachute.
