Caption: VIA CN #66 is Turbo equipped today.
1977: 335 miles, two scheduled stops, 4 hours 10 minutes downtown to downtown: average speed 80.3 m.p.h.
( anyone have a timetable that shows a faster schedule ? ).
35 years after: will Turbo - Via CN #66 & #67 - ever be matched? Exceeded?
By 1980: Turbo was slowed to 4 hours 30 minutes with three scheduled stops.
By 1982: Turbo gone.
Turbo jets through Scarborough Junction on a 1977 summer day.
[ What's interesting: 1) that 80+ m.p.h. average speed is (primarily) on jointed rail ! ]
[ 2) ONCE, just once - due to freight derailment - on a Sunday evening, witnessed Turbo at CP Leaside on the Belleville sub ! (pix anyone?) ]

I was two years old and just down Midland Avenue at Kingston Road when you took this. Had I been older, you can bet I’d have rode my bike to Scarborough Jct. as often as I could. Quite a show back then and I think this would qualify as the best of the bunch!
