The Hogger on CP Rail train #955 (CP Rail 8600 North) prepares to grab the train orders on the fly at Bolton, Ontario. (8600 may well have been the last MLW RS-10s delivered to the CPR, in any event all RS-10s were retired by 1984). August 1978 negative by S. Danko.

  1. And how old is this Railway Employee in the photograph? :)

  2. The swing operator – what great summer job for a student! Too bad the head cam had yet to be invented! Even in 1978 – to walk into Bolton station was stepping back into another era!

  4. I was seventeen, in my second month as an employee. I still remember these pictures being taken, having someone take your picture on the job was pretty rare. I retired some 37 years later. Being a spare operator was still one of the best jobs I ever held.
