On this and similar track sections a track maintenance crew jigger would follow most trains – especially the westbound loads – to watch for debris sprung loose by the vibrations created by the passing train(s). Unknown to what extent this practice continues...
Interesting:
Early VIA power assignments, almost exclusively the respective power was assigned to the original owner road, at least until the units were repainted into VIA livery: ie rare to see ex CN painted units on CP Rail and vice versa. Some exceptions did apply:

Seeing it from this angle makes me nervous. It just looks like a big plie of gravel that could let go at any time. Nice to see the whole train.

Great view! 8571 would have been an RS10, so that GP9 might be 8521 instead. Interesting to see the B-unit deadheading.
