The westerly view from the Bathurst Street bridge. Worth modeling: The trackwork; Manually operated mainline switches; Cabin D operational; CN GP40 in passenger service; Conventional coaches, one still in CN b & w. And the background smoke stacks from Toronto's industrial age....the whole image is another age !

The Toronto Terminals Railway switch tender keeps a keen eye on 9515's running gear, accompanied by a CN 3100 (RS-10) and a FPA-4, as VIA Rail # 74 rolls through the multiple Bathurst Street turnouts. ( GMD built 9515 delivered to CN in 1974 ). September 1979 negative by S.Danko.

  1. Well ain’t that som’n…

  2. Fine example of how passenger trains can be very interesting. I remember seeing CN 9400-9449 series GP40-2L’s (76mph gearing) leading the odd via train, with what was assumed to be a stricken F40 trailing, but never a 9500 series.
