Caption: Framed in the goalposts of the St. Thomas "Athletic Park" soccer field, Norfolk Southern train 327 (Buffalo to St. Thomas) is running across the "Wabash Tresle" as the locals call it, as they have done for nearly 109 years. The train is en-route to Talbotville yard with fresh loads of stamped automotive parts from the Ford Buffalo Stamping Plant. Two years prior were the last runs of NS 343 and 344 (St. Thomas to Detroit) which ran across this very tresle. In 10 days the last NS train would run to St. Thomas and today, this line is as good as abandoned with only the elevator at Paynes getting rail service. This line is not likely to survive as CN had listed it for discontinuance/abandonment in 2012.
