Great shot!
fantastic photograph!
I must ask though, how did you find out about the sale of 2816? I’ve been searching the CPR website and other train forums and even news articles related to CP, and i haven’t found anything.
Thanks, guys, for the comments. I liked my images of the 2816 travelling Southbound so much that I made another trip up to the Sound to catch it going back North. As far as this engine being for sale, Troy, it is what I understand, not what I know for sure. Somewhere I heard it had developed mechanical problems and CP decided against the expense of making it operable again and were looking at ‘unloading’ it. Sell, trade, who knows? But with the new CEO and the Boy Toy at his side, I cannot imagine this old classic roaming the rails of CP again.
Can you tell me your best place for trains photos in Parry Sound?
It used to be at Parry CP station (now a Gallery). But directional running killed that off, so I mostly wander somewhere down along the docks. James Bay Jct Rd N, about 4 KM south of town is another great location. In town I like Isabella St, just N of the CN station for southbounds. Cascade St, over by the dam, is nice as well. I haven’t done much in Parry the past few years, so I would image the foliage has taken over some of the spots I used to enjoy. Hope this helps.
