A nice lash-up all right.
That`s a lot of Alcos. I miss those. Great shot.
The 4200′s were very popular out west during the “grain rush”. We used to see lots of them. The town I live in now, Strathmore, Alberta, was on the original CP alignment from Gleichen to Calgary. After a low grade route was built between the two places, the line through Strathmore was used for Eastbound trains only with westbound using the lower grade direct line. The last train through town was in the early seventies. It was eastbound grain empties pulled by two 4200′s. South of town, the grade was sinking and, rather than repair it, CP tore up the line.
