Caption: End of the line: well, sort of. Out of service with a broken crankshaft (among other defects), GEXR 3856 sits silently on a side track at Stratford yard. A derailment on the OVR left the railroad power-short, so the decision was made to bring the 3856 to Hamilton's SOR shop for repair and return to service. After more than a year and a half in Hamilton, the engine was restored to service and sent up to the OVR along with GEXR 3835 and 4096. The future was much bleaker for GEXR 177 in the distance however; already missing its' rear truck and several other parts, the engine was scrapped not long after this photo was taken.
