Caption: End of the line on GEXR: Goderich-Exeter's former F9A 1400 and 1401 sit with a cut of freight cars at the end of the GEXR Guelph N Spur (ex Fergus sub) while 582, (right) passes by. From this point on, the new owners, Ontario Southland Railway will take posession of the engines and bring them to Guelph Junction to eventually be worked on and returned to service (assuming all goes as planned). Note how many parts are missing - both engines were being used as parts sources for RLK 4001 in Goderich over the last few years
The Ontario Southland employees agreed with the following summary of why they were purchased - Inexpensive to buy, and inexpensive to move (Goderich to Guelph is relatively short compared to other potential units on the market) and only a Shortline stands between the two railways which ensures a low price for the movement.
