hahaha!
And that is why we call it the Bee bridge even 30 years later (the twin CN / CP bridges carried the ‘Bee Bridges’ moniker even though this was the CN bridge). Heard the story from a few of the guys that were there that day, but have never seen one of the images until now. Like the TH&B, the bridge is also history thanks to a high/wide load.
Now THAT is a bit much. The BEE Bridge?? Really??
I honestly sat here for a few minutes and laughed over this. Would have never imagined it.
Being on “the other side” of Toronto, I just haven’t got it in my system to fight the highway traffic thru the GTA any more, and as a result am out of circulation.
You made my month with that story. Heck, maybe even my YEAR.
Gary, John and Jim told me the story in the 90′s. The Stacy Road is known as the ‘School Bus Bridge’… they all have names.
Mike, is that Gary with a “Z”?? Other names I have forgotten, it has been too long.
Since the bridges have names, what moniker do you give to the bridge(s) that span CP and CN when you are looking east to Port Hope 12 oclock and that big smokestack (hydro plant?)would be about 2PM?? I think it is Stacy Rd off Lakeshore.
I would make describing where I am going a lot easier.
