In this view from the cab of a piece of MOW equipment, HBRY's 30 m.p.h. main line to Churchill, MB is looking pretty good after a tie gang has rolled through and done its job.  The lack of ballast, the tripod pole line, and the dwarfed landscape are very characteristic of this portion of the line. Make sure you packed a lunch because its a long way to anywhere from here!   1. At least it’s not a wall of trees on both sides. You can see out and about.

  2. The trees didn’t grow very tall in this location, and no rock cuts to obscure vision either. Note the tri-pod arrangement to hold the pole line in place in the extremely soft terrain. Pretty remote railroading up there.

  3. Yes, you can see there is even a small soft spot just ahead where they have been dumping more new ballast. There is a small wow and what looks like a small dip in the track.
    This is pretty far north too, trees don’t get to tall. This whole scene looks very similar to Northern Alberta. Now, I wonder if there are any black flies and mosquitoes about. Heh Heh. :-)
