Caption: In 1974, on my first prairie-explorations road trip, CP’s Macleod subdivision was followed, and with no train encountered, depots were a primary camera target. Cayley at mileage 47.9 (measured from 12th Street East in Calgary) had a boarded-up depot when seen on Tuesday 1974-10-15 looking southward, and that forecast the eventual closure of that subdivision from a junction at Aldersyde through to Fort Macleod, with the Aldersyde sub. from Aldersyde south to Coalhurst (now new Lethbridge for CPKC) as an alternate route.
Cayley was named for Hugh St. Quentin Cayley (1857-1934), member of the Council of the Northwest Territories from 1886 to 1896. He was a Calgary newspaper publisher and later became a British Columbia judge.

Great historical shot, Ken. Just goes to prove that some of the most memorial images are taken on the lesser branches.
